Toblerone Line, Military fortification line in Vaud, Switzerland
The Toblerone Line stretches for 10 kilometers between Bassins and Prangins, featuring 2,700 concrete blocks designed to prevent tank invasions during wartime.
Built between 1937 and 1939, this defensive system formed a critical part of Switzerland's military infrastructure during World War II with twelve integrated fortresses.
The triangular concrete blocks along the defensive line received their name due to their resemblance to the Swiss chocolate brand Toblerone.
Visitors can explore the Villa Rose fortress museum in Gland, which presents exhibits about the military defensive structures and their strategic importance.
Each concrete block in the defensive line weighs 9 tons and stands as part of a continuous barrier that follows the Promenthouse and Serine waterways.
