Gefion Fountain, Bronze fountain in Langelinie Park, Copenhagen, Denmark
The Gefion Fountain displays the Norse goddess Gefion driving four oxen through water, creating a large circular pool at its base.
The Carlsberg Foundation donated this fountain to Copenhagen in 1908 to commemorate the brewery's 50th anniversary, with sculptor Anders Bundgaard creating the design.
The fountain depicts the Norse legend where Gefion transformed her sons into oxen to plow Swedish land, forming the island of Zealand.
Located near Kastellet fortress and the Little Mermaid statue, the fountain operates daily with water displays and night illumination.
The circular pool surrounding the 14-meter-high bronze sculpture represents the Swedish lake Vänern, formed by the mythological plowing of Zealand.
