A Lanzada Tower

The stone tower rises from a rocky outcrop along the Atlantic coast, featuring thick walls and strategic positioning for maritime surveillance.

Built around 960 by Sisnando Menendez, the tower formed part of a defensive network protecting the Galician coast from Norman and Moorish invasions.

The tower stands as a testament to Galician military engineering, representing centuries of maritime defense strategies along the Spanish northwestern coast.

The structure remains open for visits throughout the year, with access available through local roads connecting to the main town of Sanxenxo.

During the Irmandiño revolt of 1467, this tower served as the final stronghold of the rebels before their ultimate capture and defeat.
