St. Stanislaus and St. Wenceslaus Cathedral, Gothic cathedral in Świdnica, Poland
The St. Stanislaus and St. Wenceslaus Cathedral rises 103 meters into the sky with stone walls and a prominent tower dominating the city landscape.
Construction of the cathedral began in 1330 under the direction of Duke Bolko II of Świdnica, following the destruction of an earlier wooden church by fire.
The cathedral interior contains medieval treasures including a Gothic polyptych from 1492 and a Pieta sculpture dating to approximately 1420.
Visitors can access the cathedral through the main entrance at John Paul II Square, located in the southeastern section of the medieval city center.
Between 1561 and 1629, the cathedral served Protestant congregations before returning to Catholic administration under the Jesuits in 1662.
