Visby Cathedral, Lutheran cathedral in Visby, Sweden
The cathedral features three distinctive towers, including a square western tower and two octagonal eastern towers built in Romanesque architectural style.
Originally constructed for German merchants in the 13th century, the cathedral was consecrated in 1225 and elevated to cathedral status in 1572.
The main altar, installed in 1905, displays the Adoration of the Magi alongside depictions of Swedish saints including Catherine of Vadstena and Bridget.
The cathedral stands in the center of medieval Visby, serving as both the seat of the Bishop of Visby and an active place of worship.
During medieval times, the church employed two separate priests to serve both German and Swedish congregations due to the city's Hanseatic connections.
