Dunvegan Castle, Category A listed castle in Isle of Skye, Scotland
Dunvegan Castle stands on a 15-meter elevated rock formation overlooking an inlet on the eastern shore of Loch Dunvegan.
The initial construction of Dunvegan Castle began in 1220, followed by multiple expansions including the Fairy Tower addition around 1500 by Alasdair Crotach.
The castle maintains several MacLeod clan treasures within its walls, including the Dunvegan Cup, the Fairy Flag, and Sir Rory Mor's Horn.
The castle operates daily from April 1 to mid-October between 10:00 and 17:30, with winter visits available by appointment on weekdays.
Dunvegan Castle holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland, maintaining its original roof for over 800 years.
