Dunnet Head Lighthouse, Maritime navigation structure on Easter Head, Scotland
The white cylindrical tower with black lantern and ochre trim stands 20 meters tall on the cliffs of Easter Head at Dunnet Head.
Engineer Robert Stevenson constructed this lighthouse in 1831 to guide vessels through the northern waters of the Scottish mainland.
The lighthouse and its keeper cottages earned Category B listed building status, marking their contribution to Scottish maritime infrastructure.
The light flashes four times every 30 seconds and reaches 29 nautical miles across the waters from its 105-meter focal height.
Thousands of seabirds including guillemots, razorbills, and puffins nest on the surrounding 300-foot cliffs during breeding season.
