Pladda Lighthouse, Lighthouse on Pladda Island, North Ayrshire, Scotland.
The lighthouse stands 29 meters tall with white masonry construction, featuring a black lantern room and ochre trim details for enhanced maritime visibility.
Built in 1790 by Thomas Smith, this lighthouse was the first commissioned by the Commissioners of the Northern Lights in the Clyde region.
The lighthouse appears in Peter Hill's memoir 'Stargazing: Memoirs of a Young Lighthouse Keeper' and served as a filming location for 'The Crown' television series.
The lighthouse operates with automated systems monitored remotely from Edinburgh, producing three white flashes every 30 seconds visible up to 17 nautical miles.
Originally equipped with dual upper and lower lights to distinguish it from other Firth of Clyde lighthouses, making precise navigation identification possible for mariners.
