The stadium, constructed for 11 million dollars, opened its gates on July 2, 1987, following initiatives by South Bend Mayor Roger Parent to revitalize downtown through sports.

The facility bears the name of Stanley Coveleski, a Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher who established strong connections with the South Bend community after his playing career.

Located at 501 West South Street, the stadium offers multiple concession stands, merchandise shops, and direct access to downtown South Bend parking facilities.

The stadium complex includes 121 residential apartments in The Ivy at Berlin Place, allowing residents to watch baseball games directly from their living spaces.
