West India Warehouse, Protected warehouse in Copenhagen waterfront, Denmark
The West India Warehouse stands as a three-story neoclassical structure with yellow brick walls along the Copenhagen harbor at Toldbodgade street.
Architect Caspar Frederik Harsdorff designed this warehouse in 1781 for the Danish West India Company to store goods from international maritime trade.
The building now contains the Royal Cast Collection with 2000 plaster sculptures and holds costumes from the Royal Danish Theatre productions.
Visitors can explore the Royal Cast Collection on the three lower floors of the warehouse every Tuesday and Sunday without an entrance fee.
The eighth floor houses the King's Room, featuring wallpaper with guava motifs and 12 original chairs attributed to architect Harsdorff.
