Assumption of Mary church, Parish church in Kaltern, South Tyrol, Italy
The Assumption of Mary church features a Gothic steeple rising 72.5 meters high, standing separate from the main classicist structure built in 1792.
The parish dates to 1211 as 'plebs Caldari,' with the original Romanesque church burning down in 1376 and being replaced by a Gothic hall structure.
The interior contains ceiling paintings by Joseph Schöpf depicting the Coronation of Mary, alongside a marble high altar created by Teodoro Benedetti in 1740.
The church opens daily from 8:00 to 18:00, offering services in German during weekdays and bilingual services in German and Italian on Sundays at 10:15.
The church's Baroque organ case, crafted by wood carver Kasper Schonger in 1792, stands alongside two Venetian side altars imported in 1818.
