Fujairah, City in United Arab Emirates
Fujairah is the capital of the Emirate of Fujairah, situated on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates.
Fujairah was known as the 'Shark's tooth' by Portuguese traders in the 16th century due to its serrated coastline.
Its traditional society is based around farming, fishing and herding, with several cultural festivals celebrated throughout the year.
Fujairah is home to the only international airport serving the emirates.
It's the only emirate out of seven that has a coastline solely on the Gulf of Oman and none at all on the Persian Gulf.
