Kunduz Province

The territory extends over 7,827 square kilometers near the border with Tajikistan, encompassing valleys formed by the Kunduz River system.

The province functioned as the capital of an Uzbek khanate during the nineteenth century until its integration into Afghanistan in 1859.

The region connects to Tajikistan through the Sherkhan Bandar crossing point, facilitating international trade between Central Asian nations.

The Spinzar Cotton Company, established in the early 20th century, transformed Kunduz into a major agricultural production center in Afghanistan.
