Coricancha, Inca temple in Peru
Coricancha, also known as the 'Temple of the Sun', is an Inca temple in Cusco, Peru.
It was one of the most revered temples of the Inca Empire, dedicated primarily to Inti, the Sun God.
The walls and floors were once covered in sheets of solid gold, and its adjacent courtyard was filled with golden statues.
Today, the Convent of Santo Domingo stands on the site, incorporating the Inca stonework within its design.
Despite being subjected to earthquakes and alterations by the Spanish, the original Inca masonry survives intact.
