Xochimilco Ecological Park and Plant Market

The ecological reserve extends over 215 hectares with lakes, canals, artificial islands, forests of ahuejotes, pines, and eucalyptus trees throughout the territory.

Founded in 1993 on former chinampas, these artificial agricultural islands were created during pre-Hispanic times to grow food in shallow waters.

The Cuemanco embarcadero offers traditional flat-bottomed boat rides and presents La Cihuacóatl folk tale performances during October and November.

The facility includes 1,700 vendor stalls across 13 hectares, making it Latin America's largest plant market, offering live plants and gardening supplies.

The park features four distinct zones: recreational areas, Xochilta Garden, bird sanctuary, and botanical garden, with dedicated spaces for cycling and sports.
