Château de la Chevrette, 18th century castle in Deuil-la-Barre, France

The castle featured extensive French gardens designed by Le Nôtre, incorporating water fountains, marble statues, resting benches, and wooded areas throughout the grounds.

The estate reached its height between 1749 and 1754 under the ownership of Madame d'Epinay, before being demolished in 1786 by Vicomte de Belsunce.

The castle served as an intellectual gathering place where philosophers Denis Diderot, Baron Grimm, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau exchanged ideas during the Enlightenment period.

The former gatehouse building now contains the municipal music school and local history museum, displaying documents about the castle's past.

Louis Dupin de Francueil created a detailed drawing of the castle, which was later engraved by Ange Laurent de Lalive de Jully, preserving its appearance.
