Naval Monument, War memorial tower at Cours Dajot, Brest, France

The Naval Monument rises 145 feet above the lower terrace, featuring sculptures on all four sides of its rose-colored granite shaft.

The original monument from the 1930s was destroyed by German forces in 1941, leading to an identical reconstruction completed in 1958.

The monument displays bilingual inscriptions commemorating the joint achievements of French and American naval forces during World War I.

Located 800 meters southwest of Brest Station, the monument stands within a developed park area offering views across the harbor.

The structure sits upon a German bunker complex and served as a point where over 700,000 American troops passed through during wartime operations.
