Silent-Night-Chapel, Roman Catholic chapel in Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria
The Silent Night Chapel features an octagonal structure topped with a bell helmet, lantern, and contains stained glass windows crafted by Tyrolean artisans in 1935.
The chapel stands on the former site of St Nicholas Church, where the Christmas carol Silent Night was first performed by Joseph Mohr and Franz Gruber in 1818.
During the annual Christmas Eve memorial service, visitors from multiple nations gather to hear Silent Night performed in different languages at this memorial site.
Visitors can reach the chapel by taking the Lokalbahn train service from Salzburg main station to Oberndorf station, with departures every thirty minutes throughout the day.
The chapel's interior displays a high altar relief depicting the Nativity by Hermann Hutter and a predella relief showing the Adoration of the Magi by Max Domenig.
