Schloss Lichtenau, Renaissance castle in Lichtenau im Mühlkreis, Austria.
The stone castle stands on elevated ground above the Große Mühl river, surrounded by an extensive landscaped garden with mature trees.
Originally constructed in 1217 as a fortress for the Rosenberg family, the castle underwent transformation into a Renaissance structure during the early 17th century.
The castle received the Regional Monument Preservation Award in 2004 following extensive restoration work that maintained its architectural elements.
The residence spans 800 square meters with 14 rooms, including eight bedrooms and multiple bathrooms, combining modern heating systems with historical features.
Soviet occupation in 1945 led to a fire that destroyed parts of the building, requiring the removal of the north and east wings.
