Viaduct of Gentbrugge, Railway viaduct in Gentbrugge, Belgium

The Viaduct of Gentbrugge extends for 1600 meters across the urban landscape and includes six traffic lanes with emergency shoulders on both sides.

The construction of the viaduct began in the 1960s as part of the A14/E17 motorway project and opened to traffic in 1970.

The structure represents a significant element of Belgian transportation infrastructure, connecting the regions of Flanders and Wallonia through the city of Ghent.

The viaduct handles approximately 87,300 vehicles daily and maintains a speed limit of 90 kilometers per hour for safety considerations.

The structure rests upon 94 concrete pillars and underwent major renovations in 2020 following the discovery of concrete deterioration in 2018.
