Deurne bridge, Transport bridge in Antwerp, Belgium

The Deurne Bridge extends across the Albert Canal, connecting the districts of Deurne and Merksem in the northern part of Antwerp.

The original drawbridge over the Kempische Vaart was replaced in 1935 during the Albert Canal construction, then destroyed in 1940 and rebuilt after World War II.

The bridge earned its local name 'Brug van den Azijn' from the De Blauwe Hand vinegar factory established in 1760, which collected tolls at the former drawbridge.

The 2018 reconstruction increased the bridge clearance to 9.10 meters and expanded the width to 63 meters, accommodating larger vessels passing underneath.

The structure incorporates underground pipelines that were previously carried by a separate pipeline bridge located to the east of the main crossing.
