Rechytsa

Rechytsa is an administrative center located on the right bank of the Dnieper River in Gomel Region, eastern Belarus. The city includes a railway station and river port facilities that serve as connection points for the region.

The city first appears in historical records from 1213 when it was part of the Principality of Chernigov. Later, the area came under the control of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, changing hands as the region's borders shifted over centuries.

The town keeps several old religious buildings that show different styles from different times, including a Catholic church with pointed arches and an Orthodox cathedral. Walking through the streets, you notice how these structures stand alongside everyday shops and homes, showing the layers of the place's past.

The city's location with its river port and railway connection makes it accessible for visitors arriving by public transport. The setting along a major river provides good orientation for exploring the town and surrounding areas.

The city became a major center for oil extraction starting in 1965 with a large production facility that significantly shaped urban growth and industrial character. This resource industry left a visible mark on the town's landscape and economy for generations.
