Svyetlahorsk

Svietlahorsk is a city in Gomel Region situated along the Berezina River with distinct areas separated by function and development. Industrial facilities occupy the eastern side while residential neighborhoods with apartment complexes fill the western portion.

The settlement was originally called Shacilki and first appeared in historical records during the 1500s. It later transformed into a major industrial center and received its current name in 1961.

Two religious buildings shape the town's identity: an Orthodox cathedral with white brick walls and a Catholic church built from red bricks. These neighboring houses of worship reflect the religious diversity that characterizes daily life here.

The town has a railway station that has served as a transportation hub since 1915 connecting to other major cities. The distance between residential and industrial areas is significant, so planning your movement around the city is important.

The town is home to the Svietlahorsk Chemical Fibre Plant, one of the largest industrial facilities in the Gomel Region. This factory produces synthetic fibers and has been the economic foundation of the place for decades.
