Kamyanyets

Kamyanyets is an administrative center in Brest Region located on the Lyasnaya River in northwestern Belarus. The town comprises an older zone with historic structures and newer developments surrounding the river valley.

The Galician-Volhynian Chronicle first documented the town in 1276 when construction of a defensive castle with a keep started on the regional border. This structure marked the founding of a strategic outpost in the medieval border zone.

The town maintains its connection to the past through local festivals where residents gather to celebrate their traditions together. These gatherings show how the place serves as a regional focal point for the community.

The location can be visited year-round, with May through September offering the most comfortable conditions. It is worthwhile to allow time for exploring the older sections and becoming familiar with the river surroundings.

A thirteenth-century defensive tower still stands in the town and ranks among the oldest surviving stone structures in this area. The tower is easily accessible and offers views across the surrounding river valley.
