Swiss National Museum Zurich, National museum and cultural property in central Zurich, Switzerland

The museum building features multiple towers and courtyards between the Sihl and Limmat rivers, incorporating elements of Renaissance chateau architecture.

Architect Gustav Gull designed this institutional structure, which opened its doors in 1898 and received documentation from early film pioneer François-Henri Lavanchy-Clarke.

The institution maintains extensive collections spanning from prehistory through the 20th century, including gothic art and liturgical wooden sculptures from Swiss history.

The museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours on Thursdays, and contains an Armoury Tower and a Coin Cabinet.

The building houses over 870,000 objects organized into 14 distinct categories, presenting Swiss cultural history through its comprehensive collection system.
