Dresden TV tower, Television tower in Dresden, Germany
The concrete tower reaches a height of 252 meters and stands on the hills along the Elbe River in the Wachwitz district.
The German Post Office of East Germany initiated construction in 1964, with architects Kurt Nowotny and Johannes Braune drawing inspiration from a champagne glass.
The tower restaurant and observation deck received 200,000 visitors annually until its closure in 1991, offering panoramic views of the Elbe Valley.
The German government, State of Saxony, and City of Dresden allocated 25.6 million euros for renovation works to reopen the tower for public access.
Two high-speed elevators transported visitors to the two-story restaurant at 142-145 meters in just 25 seconds during its operational period.
