Botanischer Garten Erlangen

The Botanical Garden Erlangen spans two hectares of land, featuring greenhouses, outdoor gardens, and a collection of 4,000 plant species from different regions.

The garden's history began in 1626 with the establishment of a medical garden in Altdorf, before relocating to its current location in Erlangen in 1828.

The garden maintains the Herbarium Erlangense, containing 158,000 records that contribute to scientific research and educational programs at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

The garden welcomes visitors six days per week, remaining closed on Mondays, and provides guided tours through its themed sections and temperature-controlled greenhouses.

The Neischl Grotto, an artificial cave structure renovated in 2008, adds geological interest to the botanical displays within the garden grounds.
