Trausnitz Castle, Medieval castle in Landshut, Germany

The castle stands on a hilltop at 456 meters elevation, featuring fortified walls, gate structures, and the prominent Wittelsbach Tower overlooking the town.

Founded in 1204 by Duke Ludwig I, the castle served as the residence and seat of government for the Dukes of Lower Bavaria from 1255 to 1503.

The castle displays Renaissance architecture through its arcaded courtyard and contains the Fools' Staircase with monumental scenes from Italian Commedia dell'arte.

The castle opens daily from March through October between 9 am and 6 pm, with guided tours available Monday through Saturday for 5.50 euros per person.
