Beyer-Bau, Dresden, University building with observatory at Technical University of Dresden, Germany
The Beyer-Bau features red brick facades, two internal courtyards, and a 40-meter-high tower that functions as an astronomical observatory.
Martin Dülfer designed this civil engineering faculty building, which opened in 1913 with Saxon King Friedrich August III attending the ceremony.
The building incorporates northern German architectural elements with red brick construction, hipped roofs, and narrow windows, differing from Dresden's prevalent styles.
The structure houses the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Institute for Applied Photophysics, and Chair of Astronomy, with ongoing renovations scheduled until 2024.
The observatory tower, among Germany's early high-rise structures, contains the Lohrmann Observatory with its large lens telescope and astronomical instruments.
