Tretstein waterfall

The Tretstein waterfall cascades down through three meters of free fall before meeting angled rock formations, creating a total height of six meters.

The paths to the waterfall underwent renovation in 2010 by the Gräfendorf Youth Fire Brigade, who installed handrails and renewed wooden walkways.

The name Tretstein evolved from the dialect term 'Trätsch-Stein', which translates to 'splashing stone' in reference to the water movement.

Visitors can access the waterfall through hiking trails that start at a small parking area near the Waizenbach stream and railway line in Gräfendorf.

The waterfall forms part of a gorge-like incision in the Upper Buntsandstein rock formation, creating multiple smaller cascades along the Eidenbach stream.
