Kloster Barthe, Premonstratensian monastery in Heseler Wald, Germany.
The monastery complex contains four wings with a 32-meter-long brick church featuring a semicircular apse and women's gallery configuration.
Founded between 1170 and 1184 as a women's convent, Kloster Barthe operated until the Protestant Reformation led to its gradual dissolution in the 16th century.
Archaeological excavations between 1988 and 1992 revealed over 45,000 ceramic pieces, providing insights into medieval monastic life in East Frisia.
The monastery grounds, now part of a 600-hectare state forest, feature hedge plantings that outline the original building foundations with information panels.
Environmental changes caused by sand drift formed Nunnenbarg hill over the monastery ruins, leading to the relocation of its associated farm.
