Neuve-Chapelle Indian Memorial

The Neuve-Chapelle Indian Memorial features a tall pillar topped with a lotus capital, circular walls displaying inscribed panels, and two domed chattri structures.

The memorial commemorates 4,742 Indian soldiers who died in World War I, with its official inauguration taking place on October 7, 1927.

The inscriptions on the Stone of Remembrance appear in English, French, Arabic, Devanagari, and Gurmukhi, reflecting the diversity of Indian soldiers.

The memorial site maintains regular visiting hours throughout the year and provides interpretive materials about the Indian soldiers' contributions during World War I.

Stone tigers guard the memorial while the central pillar combines British architectural elements with Indian decorative motifs, including the Star of India.
