St. John's Church in Helsinki

The red brick church features two towers reaching 74 meters high and stands prominently on a hill in the Helsinki cityscape.

Construction began in 1878 under architect Adolf Emil Melander's direction and reached completion in 1891 as Finland's largest stone church.

The church displays fourteen wood reliefs along its aisle walls, depicting the stations of the Way of the Cross from Italian craftsmen.

The building accommodates 2,600 people and functions as a concert hall due to its superior acoustic properties and large organ with 4,036 pipes.

Three bells in the tower ring the first notes of the Te Deum hymn: C-sharp, E, and F-sharp, following a 1932 installation.
