Shah Mosque, Religious monument in District 12, Tehran, Iran
The Shah Mosque features a square-shaped courtyard measuring 65 meters on each side, with a central fountain and intricate tile decorations throughout the structure.
The mosque construction started under Fath-Ali Shah Qajar's reign, with funding from his mother Asia Khanum, and took approximately 18 years to complete in the early 1800s.
This religious structure reflects Qajar architectural design through its combination of brick, plaster, and tile work, incorporating elements similar to the Vakil Mosque in Shiraz.
Located adjacent to Tehran's Grand Bazaar on 15 Khordad Street opposite Naser Khosrow, the mosque spans an area of 11,000 square meters and maintains regular prayer services.
The mosque contains numerous historical inscriptions detailing construction dates and founders, with two prayer halls and a small gilt dome added during Naser al-Din Shah's period.
