Brunelleschi's dome, Renaissance dome in Florence, Italy
The Brunelleschi's Dome is the largest masonry dome ever built and it is the coverage of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence.
Constructed between 1420 and 1436 by Filippo Brunelleschi, this masterpiece of architecture was a key element of the Renaissance.
The dome remains a symbol of the city of Florence and offers a unique panoramic view from its top.
Visitors can climb to the top of the dome for a small fee.
Brunelleschi's innovative engineering techniques remain unreplicated to this day.
