The Tokyo Imperial Palace is a large park-like area located in the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo.

It is the primary residence of the Emperor of Japan, built on the site of the old Edo Castle.

The palace is surrounded by moats and massive stone walls, reflecting traditional Japanese architecture.

It is only open to the public twice a year - January 2 (New Year) and February 23 (Emperor's Birthday).

Despite being in the heart of Tokyo, the palace grounds are home to various species of birds and insects.
