Waudo-guyok

Waudo-guyok sits along the northern shore of the Taedong River, roughly 50 kilometers southwest of Pyongyang. This port city serves as North Korea's main maritime connection and handles large international vessels.

The city evolved from a small fishing village called Chinnamp'o into a major industrial center after North Korea was established. This transformation shaped the town's identity for generations.

The city holds several burial sites from the Goguryeo period that show how people constructed and arranged their tombs long ago. Walking through these areas, you can observe the remains of these ancient communities and understand how they lived.

The port has modern equipment and facilities for handling large ships, but is difficult to visit from outside. Visitors should expect very limited access and follow all local guidelines strictly.

The port uses an unusual method where cargo is moved piece by piece rather than as whole containers. This approach differs sharply from international standards and surprises most visitors.
