Fort Diemerdam

Fort Diemerdam features artillery positions and ammunition storage facilities along the Diemerzeedijk, forming part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam.

The fort, constructed between 1889 and 1896, protected Amsterdam through strategic positioning near water routes and remained active until decommission in 1954.

The structure represents Dutch military engineering from the 19th century and maintains protected status as part of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

The location includes Pavilion Puur, which opens every Sunday afternoon for visitors to experience the grounds and enjoy refreshments.

The fortification incorporates an open coastal battery design that differs from conventional fort structures in the Defense Line network.
