Nidzica Castle, Gothic castle in Nidzica, Poland
The brick fortress stands on elevated stone foundations, with external and internal defensive galleries running through the thickness of the walls beneath the roof.
The construction of this Teutonic stronghold began in 1370, serving as a procurator residence until Polish forces captured it during their march in 1410.
The castle houses the Museum of Nidzica Region, displaying ethnographic collections, medieval artifacts, and Gothic frescoes from the early 15th century.
Visitors can access the outer bailey and high castle courtyard without charge, while museum entry requires purchasing a ticket.
The castle's observation hall, located in a former Teutonic granary, features original wooden beams and guard galleries overlooking the surrounding landscape.
