The classical palace features the Chamber of Mirrors, an Art Nouveau dining hall, and Royal Apartments containing authentic furniture from multiple periods.
The structure evolved from a 13th-century Gothic castle through Renaissance modifications to its current form, completed between 1870 and 1876 by architect Aleksander Destailleur.
Georg Philipp Telemann worked as Kapellmeister from 1704 to 1707, incorporating Polish and Moravian folk music influences into his compositions at the palace.
The palace museum exhibits original furnishings, decorative elements, and personal belongings of Princess Daisy von Pless from the late 19th century.
During World War I, the castle functioned as the Emperor's Headquarters and German Army General Staff center from 1914 to 1917.
