Makhachkala Grand Mosque, Ottoman mosque in Makhachkala, Russia

The Makhachkala Grand Mosque features 57 domes and two 42-meter minarets, constructed with white tiles throughout its entire exterior and interior surfaces.

Construction of the mosque began in 1991 with funding from a Turkish family and local residents, reaching completion in 1995 and opening in 1997.

The mosque functions as the central religious institution in Dagestan, with men praying on the ground floor while women gather for prayers on the second level.

The mosque accommodates up to 17,000 worshippers simultaneously, with regular prayer services five times daily and special Friday congregational prayers at noon.

The interior displays intricate floral and abstract patterns alongside Quranic verses, illuminated by massive chandeliers, including one weighing nearly a metric ton.
