The Pinezhsky Nature Reserve spans 51,890 hectares of northern Russian territory, containing dense forests, rivers, and numerous geological formations.
The Russian government established the Pinezhsky Nature Reserve on August 20, 1974, to protect and study the taiga complexes of the White Sea-Kuloy Plateau.
Russian writer Fyodor Abramov documented the natural heritage of the Pinezhsky region through his literary works, emphasizing the need for environmental protection.
Visitors can access 91 caves within the reserve, with the Golubinsky Collapse cave extending over 1,620 meters and offering guided exploration opportunities.
The reserve contains 505 vascular plant species and 284 aphyllophoraceous fungi species, with 27% of its flora consisting of relict and endemic plants.
