Yany Kapu

Yany Kapu is an industrial city located on the Perekop Isthmus in northern Crimea at low elevation. The city grew around factories producing chemicals and remains a center for sodium carbonate and bromine manufacturing today.

The city began in 1932 as a settlement around a bromine factory called Bromzavod. It gained city status in 1966 and underwent several name changes reflecting its shifting political and administrative history.

The city brings together Russian, Ukrainian, and Crimean Tatar communities whose traditions shape daily life and local identity. People here navigate a multicultural setting where different customs coexist within the industrial environment.
