Bury St Edmunds Abbey, Benedictine abbey ruins in Bury St Edmunds, England.
The remains of the abbey include stone walls, arches, and foundations spread across extensive gardens in the heart of Suffolk county.
The monastery, established in 1020 under King Canute's reign, housed the shrine of Saint Edmund until its dissolution by Henry VIII in 1539.
The abbey grounds host medieval reenactments throughout the year, allowing visitors to experience traditional music, crafts, and religious ceremonies from that period.
The archaeological site remains open daily from sunrise to sunset, with guided tours available at the visitor center during regular business hours.
The Norman Tower, built in 1120 as the main gateway to the abbey church, now serves as a bell tower for St James Cathedral.
