Leighton Library, Category A listed library in Dunblane, Scotland.
The Leighton Library occupies a two-story stone building, featuring an external staircase leading to the main collection room on the first floor.
Archbishop Robert Leighton bequeathed 1500 books to Dunblane Cathedral in 1684, which led to the construction of this library building completed in 1687.
The collection contains volumes in 89 languages, spanning subjects from theology and medicine to travel and history, with texts dating from 1504 onwards.
The library opens on Saturdays from 11:00 to 16:00 during winter months, with group visits available through advance arrangements with the coordinator.
The undercroft section of the building served as living quarters for the first librarian, maintaining the original historical layout of the structure.
