Royal Palace, Oslo, Official royal residence at Karl Johans gate, Oslo, Norway
The Royal Palace rises prominently at the western end of Karl Johans gate, featuring a neoclassical design with a stuccoed brick facade and two wings.
Danish architect Hans Linstow started the construction in 1824, and King Oscar I officially opened the palace on July 26, 1849.
The palace hosts state occasions, royal ceremonies, and official gatherings where the Norwegian monarch meets foreign dignitaries and conducts governmental affairs.
Visitors can explore the palace interiors through guided tours during summer months from June to August, with tickets available through Ticketmaster.
The former stable area transformed into Queen Sonja Art Stable in 2017, functioning as an art gallery, museum, and concert venue.
