Pattani

Pattani is a province along Thailand's Gulf coast with flat to rolling terrain and several rivers running through it. The region divides into administrative districts that contain towns, villages, and farmland.

This land was the heart of the Patani Sultanate, which ruled independently for centuries before Siamese forces took control in the 1700s. That conquest changed the region's political structure for good.

The people here speak Pattani Malay and Thai, and follow Muslim traditions that shape daily life. You can see this in the way buildings look, how markets operate, and how residents dress and gather together.

Travel here by bus or train, as roads connect the districts across the province. You will find hotels and restaurants in larger towns, while rural areas offer fewer facilities.

A historical cannon called Phraya Tani was cast here and served as an important weapon. Today it no longer sits in the province but is kept in a government building elsewhere.
