Originally built in 1946 and then rebuilt after a fire in 1970, the center has been a focal point for arts in Turkey for decades.
The center hosts a variety of cultural events including operas, ballets, theater performances, and art exhibitions.
The center is currently closed for renovation and is expected to reopen in 2023.
The center's facade is often used as a giant screen to project images during national celebrations.
