Berestyn

Berestyn is a city in Kharkiv Oblast that stretches along the Berestova River, positioned about 101 kilometers south of Kharkiv. The town has residential neighborhoods, public buildings spanning different eras, and green spaces that define its urban layout.

The settlement began as a fortress between 1731 and 1733, serving as part of a defensive line connecting the Dnieper River to the Donets River. Over time, the fortress transformed into a commercial center and eventually grew into the city that exists today.

The town takes its name from the Berestova River, which runs through it and shaped how the settlement developed. Daily life here reflects connections to the surrounding landscape and local traditions.
