J. Edgar Hoover Building, Federal Bureau of Investigation headquarters on Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C.

The J. Edgar Hoover Building occupies an entire block with its buff-colored concrete structure featuring repetitive bronze-tinted windows along Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

The FBI headquarters construction started in 1965 and required a decade to complete, with costs rising from 60 million to 126 million dollars.

The eleven-story government building represents the Brutalist architectural movement of the 1970s through its strong geometric forms and concrete surfaces.

The structure contains 2.8 million square feet of space across eleven floors above ground and three underground levels, including a parking facility.

Following the September 11 attacks, the FBI discontinued all public tours of the building, and these restrictions continue to remain in effect.
